Chattahoochee Soccer Player Signs With LSU

Ashton Smith, a senior at Hooch, has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer for Louisiana State University.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Chattahoochee High School senior Ashton Smith has signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer for Louisiana State University. LSU is an NCAA Division I school that competes in the SEC conference.

Smith, a varsity starter, was captain of the team beginning her sophomore year. As a junior, she had the opportunity to be a student coach for the junior varsity soccer team and has been an active leader in building the program.

As a sophomore and a junior, Smith was selected to the Second and First All-Region teams. She has won numerous honors, including the Coaches award, MVP offensive player of the year, the Cougar Award voted on by her teammates and academic athletic achievement awards throughout her career at Chattahoochee. Ashton has been an honor roll student all four years at Chattahoochee, received the outstanding student Physics award her Junior Year; as well as an AP Scholar award.

Smith played club soccer for Tophat Soccer Club and Concorde Fire during her youth career and is ranked one of the top 150 players on Top Drawer Soccer. Her team made it to the ECNL National Qualifiers 3 years in a row and at U15 were the Southeast Division Champions.

After looking at schools in and out of the SEC, Smith knew that the SEC was where she wanted to be. People always shared with her “you’ll just know when it’s the right fit,” and she believed that the moment she stepped on the LSU campus. Smith verbally committed in November of her freshman year and has never looked back.
