Summer Meals Continue Through Fulton County Schools

FULTON COUNTY, GA — Even though schools are closed for the summer, students in Fulton County are still being offered breakfast and lunch. Starting Wednesday, the Fulton County School Nutrition Program will begin operating the Summer FoodStop meal distribution at 22 sites throughout the district.

The FCS Summer FoodStops provide an opportunity for families to drive through and pick up meals for the children in their family. Families can pick up meals for all children under the age of 18, or under the age of 21 for youth with special needs. To maximize social distancing, drivers are not to leave their vehicles, however walk-ups are allowed.

“The Fulton County School Nutrition Program recognizes the important role school meals play in combating childhood hunger,” said Alyssia Wright, Executive Director of the Fulton County School Nutrition Program. “For many families, schools are the one place their children can get a nutritious meal. Our FoodStop Drive-Thrus allow communities to continue feeding children when school is not in session.”

Meals are available through the FCS Summer FoodStop Drive-Thrus on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each food package contains 10 meals: five breakfasts and five lunches to feed students until the next meal package.
