Woman Dies In Head-On Collision In Johns Creek
A preliminary report indicates a BMW crossed the double yellow line on Barnwell Road and struck a Ford Focus Wednesday afternoon.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- A Norcross woman died Wednesday afternoon from injuries she sustained in a head-on collision along Barnwell Road in Johns Creek.
Police and EMS personnel were dispatched to the crash around 3:55 p.m. Oct. 11 at the road's intersection with Rivermont Parkway. According to an accident report released by the Johns Creek Police Department, a black 2014 BMW 640I was traveling northbound on Barnwell Road while a black 2014 Ford Focus was going southbound along the same stretch of road.
Both drivers were traveling towards the Rivermont Parkway intersection when, according to witness statements outlined in the report, the BMW "crossed the double yellow line" and collided head-on with the Ford Focus. The BMW rotated counterclockwise and came to a stop on the southbound side of Barnwell Road while the Focus rotated clockwise and came to a rest at the intersection.

The left rear tire of the Focus, according to the report, was also knocked off the car and was stationed off to the side of the road.
The driver of the BMW, identified as John M. Mills of Johns Creek, suffered a "visible injury to his arm and was unable to recall what had happened," the report said. He was transported to North Fulton Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Norcross resident Ernesta Josie Billups, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Johns Creek Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit.
