About the Atlanta Wind Symphony:
The 2022-2023 season marks the Atlanta Wind Symphony's 43rd anniversary as an all-volunteer community wind ensemble dedicated to delivering inspiring performances of quality wind band literature. Comprised of more than 70 adult musicians ranging in experience from music educators to hobbyists, the group has performed at Carnegie Hall and has received the John Philip Sousa Foundation's Sudler Silver Scroll, North America's most prestigious award for community concert bands. The AWS also received the honor of being selected to perform at the 2021 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, the world’s largest instrumental music conference. Atlanta Wind Symphony Music Director David Kehler serves as Director of Bands and Professor of Music at Kennesaw State University where he oversees all aspects of the University’s expanding band program; teaches courses in instrumental conducting, symphonic repertoire, and 20th century music; and serves as Music Director and Conductor of the KSU Wind Ensemble. AWS Associate Conductor Chris Shumick is in his 11th year as the Director of Bands at Milton High School, where his bands consistently win top honors at festivals and contests.

About the high school concerto competition winner:
Nick Wandrick is a senior at Cambridge High School (Milton, Georgia) where he studies music under Daniel Scott, Director of Bands. Nick, who began playing clarinet in 2016, is also a student under Ted Gurch, Acting Principal Clarinet and Associate Principal/E-flat Clarinet with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Nick has performed with the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO), and Franklin Pond ASYO Chamber Players.

About our concert sponsor, Betsy Brandt:
Among her many credits, Betsy Brandt is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Marie in the Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe award-winning series “Breaking Bad.” Other series regulars include playing sister to Colin Hanks and daughter to Dianne Wiest and James Brolin in the CBS family comedy "Life in Pieces,” and Michael J. Fox’s wife in the comedy “The Michael J. Fox Show.” Her starring role on AMC’s dystopian love anthology “Soulmates,” earned her a Critic’s Choice Award nomination, and she also starred in the Emmy-nominated Lifetime movie, "Flint," alongside Queen Latifah, which followed the true story of local activists from Flint, Michigan, who helped uncover the scandal of Flint’s lead-filled water. Betsy has recurred on several other series including “The Unicorn” opposite Walt Goggins, the Hulu series “Love, Victor,” and award-winning shows “Parenthood“ and “Masters of Sex.” She can currently be seen in the film THE VALET on HULU, opposite Eugenio Derbez, Samara Weaving, and Max Greenfield and on Netflix in the comedy feature STRAIGHT UP. Betsy has headlined plays at many of LA’s finest theatres including “Good Boys” at the Pasadena Playhouse and the West Coast premiere of Tony-nominated “Next Fall” at the Geffen Playhouse. And her voice can be heard on the scripted podcast “Dirty Diana” opposite Demi Moore, and as “Juliette Pellegrini” in the English dubbing of Netflix’s “Lupin.” Coming up next, Betsy will be starring in the HULU limited series SAINT X based on the novel of the same name. The series is currently shooting in the Dominican Republic. Betsy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two children, and very well-trained dog Lando.
