Cobb & Douglas Public Health Offers Free Mosquito Larvicide Tablets (cobbcountycourier.com) — Kennesaw-area residents can pick up free mosquito larvicide tablets at the Acworth-Kennesaw Public Health Center now through October 30 to help reduce West Nile virus risk around their homes. Cobb & Douglas Public Health is limiting supplies to one pack per household and urges residents to eliminate standing water weekly for added protection.
   

2. New Cobb County Business Licenses Issued Sept. 20-27 (cobbcountycourier.com) — Kennesaw residents can see which new businesses just received licenses in unincorporated Cobb, including a handyman service and an autism center based at Kennesaw addresses. The county issued 29 licenses between September 20 and 27, covering everything from food spots and contractors to consultants and personal services that may soon serve local neighborhoods.
   

3. 2026 Sigma Mu Phi At-Large Research Day (Abstract Submissions Due by Sept. 30) (kennesaw.edu) — Nursing faculty and students connected to Kennesaw are invited to submit completed research, evidence-based practice, or quality improvement abstracts for Sigma Mu Phi's 2026 At-Large Research Day, with submissions due September 30. Presenters, including those from Kennesaw State's Wellstar School of Nursing, can apply for podium or poster sessions and must register and cover their own travel and lodging.
   

4. How Well Do You Know Cobb County? A Weekly Quiz (cobbcountycourier.com) — Kennesaw readers can test their knowledge of Cobb County with this weekly quiz, which includes questions about Kennesaw's new public safety facility, Kennesaw State's top-ranked undergraduate program, and the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. It's designed to be fun, educational, and paired with links for deeper local learning.
   

5. Bearkats take series with 3-1 win over Owls (gobearkats.com) — Kennesaw residents saw Kennesaw State's volleyball team fall 3–1 to Sam Houston in a Conference USA matchup at VyStar Arena, despite a strong third-set comeback. The Owls were held to a .130 hitting percentage as Sam Houston's balanced attack and defense controlled most of the match.
