Brunswick Lanes Goes Xtra Large
The former U.S. Play on Barrett Parkway brings 40 new jobs to Kennesaw and more activities.
Kennesaw has an extra-large entertainment experience now, thanks to the newly-renovated Brunswick Zone XL, previously known as U.S. Play. Located at 775 Cobb Place Blvd. next to Costco, the $1 million renovation by Brunswick Bowling and Billiards also brings with it 40 new jobs, according to general manager Jim Woodward.
"We hope to have everyone hired by the end of September," said Woodward, adding that one of the newest additions to the site is the Lazer Zone, which takes players on exciting explorations of the Earth's interior. and other city officials were on hand to join Woodward in a ribbon-cutting ceremony today.
Woodward gave Mayor Mathews a colorful bowling ball -- and Mathews proceeded to bowl a strike with it. City manager Steve Kennedy said they are always glad to see a ribbon-cutting and share the excitement of a new business in the Kennesaw area.

"Especially in this economy, it's a real positive to see this company commit the resources to stay here," said Kennedy, adding success for area businesses equals success for nearby cities.
Woodward said a new feature at the facility is The Loft -- an exclusive area for adults with ten lanes of bowling in an intimate, interactive setting. Called "boutique bowling," the Kennesaw site is the first venture into the new trend.

"Bowling is a lifelong sport," said Woodward in explaining areas for both kids and adults. "Kids to persons in their 80s or 90s can still have fun and bowl together."
