A Kennesaw educator is in elite company after being named the Cobb County School District’s elementary school Teacher of the Year for 2015-16.

Ginny Lyon, a kindergarten teacher at Chalker Elementary, was surprised earlier this week while pre-planning for the new school year when Superintendent Chris Ragsdale came to visit and told her she had won the award. She was congratulated by her colleagues, who are also gearing up for Monday’s first day of school.
