Cobb Police Assisting in Search for Missing Teen

Makayla White has not been seen since Dec. 4 and could be hiding out in Cobb County, police say.

Cobb County police are assisting the Cherokee County School District Police Department in their efforts to locate a missing 15-year-old girl, a department spokesman said.

According to Officer Mike Bowman, Cobb police are working leads in their jurisdiction that may point to the location of Makayla White, a missing 15-year-old girl who was last seen riding a bus to Cherokee High School in Canton on Dec. 4.

According to information provided by the Cherokee County School District, White got on the bus from her group home that morning, but never reported to class or rode the bus home. The Cherokee County School District Police Department has listed White as a runaway and has informed the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, the Cobb County Police Department, and the Marietta Police Department about White’s disappearance. Authorities believe White may be hiding in Cobb County, according to the information provided by the Cherokee County School District.

A Facebook post made on Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch describes white as having brown hair, green eyes, and standing around 5’4” tall. She could be in the Canton, Smyrna, or Marietta areas, according to the Facebook post.
