Cold Case Kennesaw Murder Finally Goes to Trial
The murder took place on Dec. 7, 2000, at the Wingate Hotel off Barrett Parkway.

MARIETTA, GA -- A Dec. 7, 2000, armed robbery and murder in Kennesaw is finally going to trial this week thanks to a group of retired Cobb police officers who were determined to see justice done.
Rodney Castin was working at the Wingate Hotel off Barrett Parkway and I-75 when two men came into the lobby with guns and demanded cash. After Castin gave them about $300, they shot him to death.
The case was eventually assigned to Cobb's cold case unit, under the leadership of John Dawes. Evidence eventually led investigators to James Randolph, who's been charged with armed robbery and murder.
Dawes worked the case from its beginnings 15 years ago.
