The man is in a medically-induced coma, his wife said.

The FedEx worker who was seriously wounded during a shooting spree at a facility in Kennesaw last year has suffered a setback to his recovery.

According to WSB-TV, Christopher Sparkman recently underwent his 26th surgery to treat shotgun blast wounds inflicted last year. Sparkman suffered complications following the surgery, according to his wife Jamie Lynn, and has been placed into a medically-induced coma.

Jamie Lynn wrote on her blog that the Feb. 16 surgery involved repairing and removing segments of small and large intestine, and inserting a biomechanical mesh at the site of Sparkman’s destroyed abdominal muscles. The surgery took 11 hours.
