Fire Sweeps Through Kennesaw Apartment Complex

Nobody was injured in the blaze, but nearly a dozen families lost their homes.

Cobb County firefighters were in Kennesaw on Friday morning battling a fire which broke out at an apartment complex.

According to WSB-TV, investigators suspect that the fire at the Heights of Kennesaw Apartments on Barrett Lakes Boulevard began in an upstairs unit and was quickly spread by winds. Eight of the 20 units in the building were damaged by the flames, while the remaining 12 suffered smoke and water damage, WSB-TV said.

The American Red Cross told WSB that it is caring for 18 adults and five children who lost their homes to the fire. All told, some 11 families were forced out due to the blaze.

No injuries were reported.
