Firefighters Battle Kennesaw House Fire

The homeowner believed the fire was caused by a lightning strike.

Cobb County firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire in Kennesaw on Sunday afternoon.

According to fire department spokesman Dan Dupree, units were dispatched to a home in the 3500 block of Brandywine Road at 4:43 p.m. after the homeowner smelled smoke. The homeowner later told fire crews that the home had been struck by lighting.

Once on the scene, crews found light smoke coming from the garage of the home, and discovered a very small fire inside a wall of the home, Dupree said.

Nobody was injured during the incident, added Dupree.
