Former Drug Prosecutor Gets Probation for Drug Charges
Rand Csehy tested positive for methamphetamine while on bond for defending a client while under the influence of the same drug in 2014.

A one-time Fulton County drug prosecutor got to see the other side of the criminal justice system after he was convicted of two drug-related offenses, the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Rand Jason Csehy, 40, was sentenced to six years of probation after he acknowledged in court that he was found to be in violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act in January of this year for testing positive for methamphetamine while on bond. Csehy was on bond for violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act for showing up to court to defend a client while under the influence of meth in September of 2014, facts that Csehy acknowledged in his trial.
Cobb County Superior Court Judge A. Gregory Poole sentenced Csehy after his non-jury “stipulated bench trial,” which allowed Csehy to acknowledge the facts of the case and submit to sentencing, but still granted him the right to appeal the decision in the future.

“This case is an example of no one being above the law,” Cobb DA Vic Reynolds said in a statement. “This defendant was a practicing attorney and former prosecutor, but he was held accountable for his actions because the evidence was present pointing to his guilt.”
