Former Kennesaw City Manager Among Finalists for Job in Americus
Steve Kennedy will soon be interviewed for the vacant city manager's position in the Sumter County locale.

The former city manager of Kennesaw may land on his feet in another Georgia city.
According to the Americus Times-Recorder, Steve Kennedy is one of two finalists for that city’s vacant city manager post. Kennedy and Douglas B. White, the former city manager of Social Circle, will soon be interviewed by the Americus City Council in order to determine who gets the job.
Kennedy was let go from Kennesaw after the city council formally declined to extend his employment contract, which expired at the end of 2014, at their Feb. 2 meeting. Despite Kennedy’s dismissal, he continued to show up to work in an effort to help with the transition process to his immediate successor, acting City Manager Dr. Jeff Drobney.

Drobney himself has been linked to a city manager job in Florida, but declined to proceed with the interview process and withdrew from consideration for the position.
Kennesaw has begun a nationwide search for Kennedy’s permanent replacement.
