GBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Kennesaw

Police exchanged gunfire with three or four suspects they caught burglarizing a local gas station.

KENNESAW, GA. -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Kennesaw. The shooting happened when Kennesaw police saw a local Texaco gas station being burglarized on Moon Station Road. Police then confronted three to four suspects, all identified as black males.

Gunfire was exchanged, and the suspects then fled in a vehicle. One Kennesaw officer chased the vehicle, but lost sight of it. The vehicle was later located on the campus of Kennesaw State University.

The suspects have not been located. No officers were injured.

The ZGBI was requested by Kennesaw police to investigate the incident on Monday, Oct. 1. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Cobb County District Attorney’s office for review.
