Over the past few years, Georgia has increased their attention to early education, by implementing a voluntary Quality Rating System. Since the Quality Rated program began in 2012, out of the 6,000 childcare providers in the state, less than 500 providers have completed the process to receive their STARS. Sunbrook Academy is proud to announce it’s “2 STAR Quality Rating” received at their Legacy Park location in Kennesaw. Even more impressive is Sunbrook Academy at Legacy Park is one of 3 in Kennesaw and 21 in all of Cobb County to be Quality Rated.

Quality Rated is Georgia’s system to determine, improve, and communicate the level of quality in programs by evaluating five standards including: staff qualifications, teacher and student ratios, child health, family partnerships and intentional teaching practices. By participating in Georgia’s voluntary Quality Rated, early education and school-age care programs make a commitment to work continuously to improve the quality of care they provide to children and families.

Sunbrook Academy at Legacy Park has been awarded their 2 Star award by exceeding state requirements by areas lowest teacher to student ratios, executing daily lesson plans that ensure a greater focus on academics, physical activity and a healthy meal plan that is committed to serving more fruits and vegetables. Sunbrook Academy Director of Marketing, Kip Powers says, “It took quite a bit of time, money and hard work to meet all of the Quality Rated requirements. The end result is an industry leading school that offers students the absolute best environment for learning.”

As one of only a few childcare providers in Cobb County that have earned a STAR Quality Rating, Sunbrook Academy at Legacy Park is is leading the way in early education with a curriculum that is designed and written for Sunbrook. It’s Foundations Curriculum tracks each child’s learning in all 9 domains and 49 learning objectives with twice a year assessments and bi-annual parent-teacher conferences. These conferences will cover each student’s portfolio showing the years progress and remain with the students during their career at Sunbrook Academy. This will allows parents the opportunity to track not only the progress of their child, but when each milestone has been met, and the processes and procedures used to get there.

Sunbrook Academy at Legacy Park is part of an elite club in Georgia Childcare. With 6,000 eligible childcare providers in the Georgia, Sunbrook has become a childcare leader in the community. Sunbrook Academy’s Director, Kelly Williams, responded, “the past year has been a wonderful experience getting ready for our Quality Rating. It is great to see our teachers being awarded these stars and being recognized for their efforts. With our Summer Camp getting ready to be rolled out this is a very exciting time for us.”
