Kennesaw Named Fit-Friendly Worksite
The American Heart Association has recognized the city for its dedication to improving its employees' health.

The City of Kennesaw has been recognized as a Gold FitFriendly Worksite by the American Heart Association for their progressive leadership and concern for their staff. As a Gold level award recipient, the City has fulfilled key criteria and demonstrated a strong commitment to providing a healthy workplace for employees.
“We are honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association. We believe employers have a responsibility to support physical activity and wellness for their employees,” said Mayor Mark Mathews. “We continue to be committed to the Fit City Kennesaw initiative we began in January of 2012 which encourages improved wellness for everyone.”

The City of Kennesaw works with Community Health Partners to offer employees a comprehensive wellness program, including providing a free annual screening of biometrics and bloodwork; providing group and individual coaching on nutrition, healthy eating, tobacco cessation and weight management; and paying cash incentives to staff members who improve their overall wellness. In 2014, the City of Kennesaw took top honors in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Atlanta’s Healthiest Employers Competition.
