Kennesaw Police Warn Residents of Phone Scam

Someone is calling residents using the police department's phone number and claiming they owe money.

KENNESAW, GA -- Police are warning Kennesaw residents against a phone scam that is using the department’s number.

“Concerned citizens have reported receiving phone calls from our 770-422-2505 number from an unknown subject claiming to be with the ’Treasury Department’ who claims the citizens owe them money,” according to a Kennesaw police statement. “These calls are not coming from the police department or the city of Kennesaw. The caller has “spoofed” our phone number which allows him to use our number as his caller ID.”

Any suspicious phone calls should be reported to the department.
