Kennesaw Seeks Public Entries For 'How I See My City' Art Contest

KENNESAW, GA -- The City of Kennesaw is hosting an art contest for Georgia Cities Week (April 22-28). The theme is "How I See My City," and all artwork must be turned in to the City of Kennesaw City Hall by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.

Winners in each age group will receive a $25 prize, be recognized at the Mayor and Council Meeting on Monday, May 6 and have their artwork on exhibit at City Hall.

Art Contest Guidelines

• Entries must be submitted to City of Kennesaw City Hall by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
• The Art Contest is open to the public. There will be five age groups: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Adult (18+) and Senior (55+).
• One entry per person.
• A completed submission/entry form should accompany each entry.
• All artwork will become property of the City of Kennesaw upon submission. No artwork will be returned to artists upon completion of contest/judging.

Originality

All entries must embrace the theme “How I See My City”. All original work must be conceptualized, developed, and created exclusively by the artist.

Guidelines

• Artwork must be two-dimensional and completely dried or fixed.
• Maximum entry size is 20 x 24 inches.
• Acceptable mediums include: drawing (colored or graphite pencil, ink, pastel, crayon, chalk, marker, or charcoal) Pastels and charcoals must be protected with a fixative spray; painting (acrylic, watercolor, or oil); printmaking (block print, monoprint, collagraph, serigraph, or lithograph); mixed media (including collage). Materials may extend up to one inch from the surface.
• Non-allowed media include photography, digital art/graphics, animation, ceramics, sculpture, or other 3-D work.
• No framed artwork will be accepted.
