Kennesaw Woman Dies in Crash
Thursday afternoon, 51-year-old Karen Thomas was killed in a car crash on Shallowford Road, just west of the I-575 overpass in Kennesaw.

A woman was killed in a car crash on Shallowford Road, just west of the I-575 overpass in Kennesaw, shortly before 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Preliminary information indicates that 51-year-old Karen Thomas of Kennesaw was driving a blue 2011 Toyota eastbound on Shallowford Road when she drove off the road for unknown reasons, said Sgt. Dana Pierce of the Cobb County Police.
While trying to get back on the road, Thomas over-corrected, causing the vehicle to rotate and cross the double yellow line. The Toyota was struck on the passenger side door by a silver 2002 Nissan Frontier truck heading westbound, said Pierce.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, 25-year-old Victor Carter of Atlanta, along with a passenger, 17-year-old Anthony Studer of Canton, were not hurt in the crash, said Pierce.

The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is investigating the crash. Charges are not expected to be filed, said Pierce.
