KSU Continuing Education Seeks Instructor for Upcoming New Program
Program is slated to start in the fall of 2016

The College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University is currently seeking qualified candidates for an upcoming new program: Legal Interpreter Certificate.
Candidates should be reliable, motivated and possess good presentation skills. A Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited institution. The ideal candidate must currently be a certified and licensed legal interpreter by the Georgia Supreme Court's Commission on Interpreters and have practiced their profession in Georgia for a minimum of 3 years, with a minimum of 5 years total experience. Candidates should also be a member of the NAJIT (National Association of Judicial Interpreters and Translators). Dual language fluency in Spanish and English is required.
The position includes teaching in the classroom on the following topics:

• Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, and sight translation
• English and Spanish legal terminology
• Language-specific legal terms and expressions
• Basic court room procedures and protocols; understanding of the judicial system and common focus of court assignments
• Ethics and roles of the interpreter within the judicial system
• Cultural competency
• Practice with Oral Program Kit; Role playing
• Business management skills for the independent interpreter contractor
