KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education is set to launch a bevy of history courses and a special art course. The programs are part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute which provides opportunities for adults ages 50 and older.

“We are excited to offer these new programs as OLLI continues to grow,” said Meg Webber, program manager. “The diversity of these offerings will present something for everyone.”

• Beginning April 7, Suburban Sketchers ($109) will provide coaching to artists who sketch accurate proportions, understand light and shadows, and regularly use a sketchbook to capture images. The classroom will be a variety of picturesque locations to draw plein air with subjects such as architecture, botany, landscape and more.
• The European Landscape - A Stage for History ($129) also starts April 7. Students in this course will broaden their horizons by learning how geography provided the stage upon which historical events have played out on the European landscape. A series of visually-rich lectures will discuss population, culture, politics and urbanization using geographical perspectives and historical impact.
• Women of Valor ($99) begins April 10 and focuses on select females who overcame adversity and set the path for other women to follow.
  
• Getting Started in Genealogy ($99), starting April 13, will help students learn how to begin this search using family, governmental, library and electronic resources. Discover how to access the billions of records and tools available in person and online to put the family tree together.
• Post Civil War America ($99) starts April 16 and will examine the black experience from Reconstruction to Jim Crow.
