Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Letha and John Austin; sisters, Jewell Austin and Norma Carson; brothers, Jim Austin, Bill Austin, and George Austin; as well as one granddaughter, little Miss Stacijo.

Besides caring for and raising her children, gardening, canning, cooking, and making most of the clothes her daughters wore, Gin, as she was lovingly called, worked diligently beside her husband in his business. Together, they started Cecil N. Brown Company, a successful masonry and general contractor in the southeast. She kept the books, did payroll, and made sure Cecil had everything he needed to do his job. Together, they bought property and managed a large mobile home park in Kennesaw.

She loved the beach, entertaining friends, and was blessed to have traveled the world. She loved all her kids and enjoyed playing lighthearted card games with them and their children. Her laughter was contagious, and she had the ability to make everyone feel special. If asked, each of her girls and son would tell you they were HER favorite child, because she had the mother’s touch.

Gin and Cecil loved collecting and restoring cars, especially Graham automobiles. They belonged to the Graham Car Club and made many lifelong friends traveling to meets.

Gin was a wonderful lady with many talents. She was always dressed accordingly and looked very elegant, regardless of the event. People often commented on her and Cecil as being a “striking couple”!

“I think it is lost…but nothing is ever lost nor can be lost. The body sluggish, aged, cold, the ember left from earlier fires shall duly flame again.” Walt Whitman

Gin, you are not lost as we know where you are. Go rest high on that mountain!

Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
