Mixed-Use Development Coming to Downtown Kennesaw

The $20 million project will bring more than 150 new apartment units and roughly 10,000 sq. ft. of retail space to the heart of the city.

Downtown Kennesaw will be getting an infusion of new living, shopping, and dining options with the approval of a new mixed-use development by the Kennesaw City Council late last month.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the council unanimously approved The Halter Companies’ $20 million plan to build 167 apartments in 24 buildings on 7.5 acres of land on Dallas Street between North Main Street and Watts Drive on Jan. 20. The plan calls for the construction of brand new buildings along Dallas Street, and the conversion of the old Wells Fargo near Dallas Street and Watts Drive to a new restaurant concept, reports the MDJ.

The Halter Companies also plans to refurbish the Lewis House and give it new life as the leasing office for the new residential complex. The Kennesaw Historic Preservation Commission will have to sign off on the plans for the Lewis House, according to the MDJ.
