Nickelodeon Star Is a Smash Hit
Famous teen personality Leon Thomas III supports fundraising efforts at Kennesaw's new Teen Center.
Celebrity personality Leon Thomas III helped kick off last weekend's Big Shanty Festival.
Thomas, the 17-year-old star of the hit television show Victorious, rode in a gray Thunderbird convertible in the parade, greeting onlookers and tossing candy to the cheering crowd.
helped support the city’s new and after-school program. After the parade, Thomas, who plays Andre Harris on Victorious, made personal appearances throughout the day, signing autographs and taking photographs with fans.

The Youth Council hosted an event featuring a chat with Thomas at . Thomas treated the audience to a mini-concert with his acoustic guitar, accompanied by his parents, Jayon Anthony and Jon Kevin Jones, who are also musicians.
His performance included original songs as well as new music the artist hasn't performed publicly before. One new song will be aired on Season 2 of Victorious and was well received by the Kennesaw audience.

After the concert, Thomas answered impromptu questions. He encouraged the youths to focus on their goals, follow their dreams and to persevere. He told the audience how he began his career and shared insight into his success.
The actor, singer and dancer made his Broadway debut at the age of 10 as young Simba in The Lion King. He also appeared in the Broadway play The Color Purple.
His acting has included the film August Rush with Robin Williams and Terrance Howard. Thomas has also had guest roles on The Backyardigans, Jack’s Big Music Show, Just Jordan and iCarly.
Admission for the event was $5, with proceeds benefiting the , which opened in February.
Thomas’ visit was a collaborative effort spearheaded by Councilman Bill Thrash and Thomas’ music manager, Marco Tudor, who has been working closely with the Teen Center board and the Kennesaw Dream Team.
The entire audience was invited to the for an after-party.
Guests of the event were treated to another autograph-signing opportunity, along with a pizza and ice-cream sundae party.
More events are planned to support the Kennesaw Teen Center during Thomas' stay.
