One Dead, Two Injured in Stilesboro Crash

A Kennesaw teen was killed in a Friday night collision.

A Friday night crash just west of Marietta has left two people injured and one dead.

The collision occurred at 7:07 p.m. on Stilesboro Road east of New Salem Road, said Officer Joe Hernandez of the Cobb County police.

A red 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling eastbound on Stilesboro when the driver lost control over an icy patch.

The car spun counterclockwise across the median, its right side colliding with the front end of a silver 2007 Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound.

A passenger in the Eclipse, 18-year-old Karli Jobling of Kennesaw, was pronounced dead at the scene, Hernandez said.

The driver of the Eclipse, 17-year-old Alexandra Covett of Acworth, was transported to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai Sonata, 30-year-old Courtney Ferguson of Acworth, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is investigating the crash. Charges are pending after the investigation.
