Police Blotter: Heroin Arrest, Ticket to Tanzania, El Rodeo Burglary

Here's the latest in Kennesaw crime news from May 27-June 6.

The following information was taken directly from the incident reports between May 27 and June 6. Heroin Arrest: On May 27, Kennesaw Police arrested 20-year-old James Williams of Kennesaw and charged him with possession of heroin, a felony. Police were dispatched to Colony Drive after receiving notice from the U.S. Marshals that while serving a warrant for Williams' roommate, they found suspected heroin in Williams' possession. He was transported to the city jail without incident, according to the report.

A One-Way Ticket to Tanzania: On June 6, a Kennesaw woman told police that someone had fraudulently used her Bank of America checking card to purchase a one-way plane ticket from Dubai to Tanzania via Dares Salam International Airport. The woman told police the ticket cost $946.15 and that the transaction was attached to the name "Ahmed Mushtaqmr." The victim said she contacted police after the bank's forgery and fraud division advised her to file a police report.

El Rodeo Burglarized: Shortly before 5 a.m. on June 1, $560 was stolen from on Cobb Parkway. The restaurant's camera system recorded what appeared to be a male wearing a jacket, blue jeans, skull cap, mask and gloves crawling on his hands and knees before entering the back office. The complainant told police the burglar was likely aware the camera system was motion activated, thus explaining the crawling motion. Entry to the business was made through the rear patio door where the glass was pried away from the frame of the door, according to the report.

A Not-So-Neighborly Gift: On the evening of June 1, police were dispatched to Trees of Kennesaw Parkway and arrested a 33-year-old man who two witnesses say placed dog feces on a neighbor's porch. The man was charged with criminal trespass and transported to the city jail.

Coin Flip: On June 4, called police in regards to a male juvenile who allegedly tried to resell them a 1917 silver quarter he stole from the store the previous day. The juvenile told police he took the coin "because he liked it" and returned to the store in an attempt to sell the coin back, according to the report.

Statue Stalker: Between May 29 and May 31, an unknown person trespassed into , knocking over a statue and overturning some benches. The sculpture suffered about $400 in damages. The incident location was placed on zone patrol, according to the police report.
