Race-Based Hate Attack Investigated In Cobb

Police say two men made "derogatory racial remarks" to the man at a Kennesaw nightclub before he was attacked outside the bar.

KENNESAW, GA — Police in Kennesaw are investigating an attack outside a local nightclub as a racially motivated hate crime.

According to police, a 26-year-old Hispanic man was at the SuBourbon Bar, at 2718 Summers St., Thursday night. While there, two white men "made derogatory racial remarks toward him," according to police.

He left some time between 11:50 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Friday morning. As he was walking out of the bar, he was attacked from behind, police said.

The man was treated and released from the hospital with a cut to his face, they said.

Investigators say that, based on information they learned, they believe the attack was a hate crime. They're asking anyone with information in the case to contact the Kennesaw Police Department at 770-422-2505 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
