Kennesaw celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War event.

Thursday, community members commemorated the 150th anniversary of the , an iconic Civil War event in which Union spies outside the l in Big Shanty, or present-day Kennesaw.

The festivities will continue with Camp McDonald: A Living History Weekend. On Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. local reenactment groups will recreate and interpret life in the Confederate encampment that was located across the tracks from the museum.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 4-12, while children 3 and younger are free. Tickets also allow entry to the museum, which will operate under normal hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
