Southern Museum’s 2014 Summer Camps Feature Railroad Theme

The 2014 slate of summer camp programs at The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History will focus on railroads.

Camp will be held from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on June 2-6 and June 23-27.

This year’s theme, “Working on the Railroad,” will bring the story of locomotives and train workers from the Golden Age of steam to life through hands-on activities, historic train artifacts, and the Museum’s exhibits, including the famous General locomotive.  Daily activities include games, crafts, stories, and assembling model railroad layouts.

“We’re pleased to offer our most popular summer camp, ‘Working on the Railroad,’ twice this year for all of the boys and girls out there who love trains,” said Ken Hoo, the Southern Museum’s early childhood educator.  “It’s an interactive experience for young train fans where they will discover the fun of working on the railroad.”

Space is limited, so early registration is recommended. For more information, visit www.southernmuseum.org/summer-camps/.
