WSB-TV has acquired a Cobb County police video which recorded the arrest of an armed robber just as he was leaving the Acworth dollar store he had targeted.
According to the Acworth Police Department, officers responded to the Dollar General at 4961 Regions Dr. at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Dec. 3 after receiving a report of an armed robbery in progress at the business. The department says that the first Acworth police officers on scene rendezvoused with a Cobb County police officer who was already on the scene and positioned near the front door.

Additional Acworth police personnel, including a K9 unit, positioned themselves outside the Dollar General in concealed locations but were still able to see inside the store, the department reports. Acworth police says that officers reported seeing a masked man brandishing a firearm inside.
Acworth police said that the suspect left the store shortly after brandishing the firearm, and was dressed in a gray mask and gloves and was carrying a black backpack. When the suspect left the store, officers immediately ordered him to surrender, police said. Police say the suspect put his hands up and complied with commands.
