A $1 Million Powerball Ticket Was Sold in Lawrenceville

The ticket for Saturday's drawing was sold at a Shell station, but the winner hasn't come forward yet.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- There may have been no grand-prize winner in Saturday’s record Powerball drawing. But someone in Lawrenceville picked up a million-dollar ticket.

Georgia Lottery Corporation spokeswoman Tandi Reddick confirmed Monday that a $1 million ”match five” ticket was sold at the Simonton Shell station at 920 New Hope Rd. in Lawrenceville.

That winner had not yet come forward to claim the prize as of Monday afternoon. Lottery winners have 180 days to claim their prizes.

On Sunday, lottery officials had announced there was one $1 million Powerball winner in Georgia.

The winning numbers in Saturday’s drawig were 16, 19, 32, 34, 57 and the Powerball number 13. Picking them all correctly would have paid off to the tune of about $950 million.

Because no one in the 44 states (plus two territories and the District of Columbia) that take part in Powerball hit on all five numbers and the Powerball on Saturday, Wednesday’s drawing will be another record, with the jackpot expected to be more than $1.4 billion.
