2015 Little Miss AKA Pageant Slated for Gwinnett County
Girls Aged 7 -10 and Parents Invited To Little Miss AKA Pageant Information Session

The Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter (βUAOβ) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, along with its nonprofit affiliate The Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc. (βGPSβ) will host The 2015 Little Miss AKA Pageant Information Session on Saturday, November 9 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Five Forks Trickum Library located at 2780 Five Forks Trickum Road in Lawrenceville.
The first of its kind held in Gwinnett County, members are proud to host the 5th Little Miss AKA Pageant. This signature metro Atlanta event is held biennially and designed for girls aged 7-10. The 2015 pageant is slated for April 25 at Shiloh High School, and is the culminating activity of six months of enriching activities including self-empowering workshops, field trips, a Mother/Daughter Luncheon, and a Talent Showcase for todayβs βlittle missesβ.

Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter President Karan Rhodes said, βUAO and GPS are ecstatic to join forces to be able to provide such a rare, elite opportunity to not only feature, but also nurture the dynamic talents and skills of the youth of our community β our future leaders of tomorrow. Any parent who values the support of empowerment programs for youth of this age group are encouraged to attend the information session to assess if this is a win-win opportunity for their precious tween.β

Proceeds from the pageant will benefit the Beauty P. Baldwin Scholarship Fund and other programs benefiting the community, such as mentoring, playground improvement, feeding hungry children, book and clothing drives, and environmental beautification - just to name a few. UAO has awarded over $180,000 in scholarships to deserving students since being chartered in Gwinnett County in 1994.
βThe Little Miss AKA Pageant is UAOβs signature event for young girls,β said Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter Vice President, Andria S. Daniels. βThe opportunity to learn social graces, attend educational workshops, and attend cultural events will be invaluable for participants. This yearβs pageant will be the biggest ever.β
Members of the chapter are hard at work planning activities for pageant participants and look forward to serving as mentors. Relationships formed between mentors and mentees during the pageant contribute to a host of benefits for all involved. JeNeane Hamilton serves as Little Miss AKA Chairman while Shani Burd and Debra Meadows serve as Little Miss AKA Co-Chairmen. βWe are thrilled with the opportunity to lead this event,β said Little Miss AKA Chairman JeNeane Hamilton. βMy sisters and I are excited to work with the girls and their families throughout the next six months.β

About Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter
On January 29, 1994, thirty aspiring professional women chartered the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The group gathered to implement and support the international programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated as they pertain to the needs of Gwinnett County, Georgia.
