4 Charged With Murder In Gwinnett Gunfight

A 17-year-old boy was killed after police say a robbery during a drug transaction escalated to a gunfight in Gwinnett County.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Four people have been arrested after a gunfight killed a 17-year-old boy and injured another teenage boy Monday in the 1200 block of Barrett Bluff Drive, Gwinnett County Police said Tuesday.

When officers responded to the area, police said they found Damonta Sears suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, police said.

According to GCPD, 17-year-old Olvy Calvo-Martinez and 16-year-old Zaire Craig went to rob 17-year-old Luis Hernandez-Moreno and 21-year-old Luis-Hernandez Moreno during an arranged drug transaction.

Both Sears and Luis Hernandez-Moreno were shot during an exchange of gunfire between the two groups, police said.

Shortly after the shooting, police said they found a vehicle connected to the incident.

Luis Hernandez-Moreno was found inside the vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, police said. His injuries were not life threatening, police said.

Aldair Hernandez-Moreno, 21, was also located in the vehicle, police said.

Charges were issued as follows, per police:

Calvo-Martinez: arrested on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence and multiple gang-related charges.

Craig: arrested on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and multiple gang-related charges.

Luis Hernandez-Moreno and Aldair Hernandez-Moreno: arrested on charges of felony murder, possession of a schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
