World Tai Chi Day Celebrated in Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia (April 23, 2012) – In honor of World Tai Chi Day, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Gwinnett, will host a free Tai Chi practice on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Senior Pavilion at Ronald Reagan Park, Five Forks Trickum Road, in Lawrenceville. The event is free and the public is welcome. Beginner and experienced Tai Chi practitioners alike are encouraged to attend.
Word Tai Chi Day is an annual event that promotes the traditional disciplines of Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong. In a worldwide wave of Tai Chi, for one simultaneous hour people in more than 66 countries will practice Tai Chi, a form of Chinese martial art that employs internal power and is appreciated for both its defense training and numerous health benefits, including stress management and mental clarity.

The practice will be led by Patty Riehm, Rob Kohl, and Diana Dice, who have been practicing Yang Style, Traditional Long Form Tai Chi together for almost 17 years. The Yang Style of Tai Chi is the most widely practiced style of Tai Chi in the world today.
