Arrest Made In GA Rapper's Shooting At FL Casino: Reports
Police reportedly say a rapper has been arrested in connection with the shooting of metro Atlanta rapper Offset, who is in stable condition.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Metro Atlanta rapper Offset is in stable condition after being shot outside a Florida casino, and rival Lil Tjay is rejecting claims he was involved following his arrest, according to media reports.
Rapper Tione Jayden "Lil Tjay" Merritt has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Offset, a 34-year-old Lawrenceville native whose real name is Kiari Cephus, NBC News reported Tuesday.
Seminole (Florida) Police on Monday arrested Merritt on charges of operating a vehicle without a valid license and disorderly conduct - affray, Broward County (Florida) Jail records showed Tuesday. He was granted a total $3,000 bond.

However, police told NBC News his arrest was in connection with the shooting that occurred Monday evening at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.
The shooting took place after 7 p.m. at the casino's valet area, Seminole Police told People. Authorities did not identify Cephus as the person injured, but his team confirmed the news to People.

Police said Cephus was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. His injuries were not life threatening, and he was expected to be OK, People reported.
The shooting resulted from a dispute, and a second person who had been detained at the scene has not officially been charged, Seminole Police spokesperson Gary Bitney told NBC News.

Shortly after news broke of the shooting, rumors swirled that Merritt was involved, but his attorney denied those claims in an Instagram post published Monday.
Attorney Dawn Florio wrote:
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos. Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors."
Cephus is formerly one-third of rap group Migos, which was founded in 2008 in Lawrenceville.
The trio included family members Quavo and the late Takeoff, who was shot and killed in November 2022 at a Houston bowling alley during a private party.
Their hit songs include "Versace," "Bad and Boujee" and "Walk It Talk It."
Cephus shares three children with estranged wife and fellow rap star Cardi B, who is featured on the Migos hit, "Motorsport." The song also features rapper Nicki Minaj.
Cardi B, currently on tour, has not publicly commented on the incident.
