Gwinnett AKAs Want Community to Skate, Roll, and Bounce Their Way to Healthy Hearts
Family Fun Night/Fundraiser Planned in Observance of AHA's Heart Awareness Month; Sorority Members Will Also Collect Backpacks...
The Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter (βUAOβ) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is rolling forward in observance of The American Heart Associationβs (βAHAβ) Heart Awareness Month with their second βRoll Bounce to a Healthy Heart with UAOβ, a family fun night fundraiser from 6:30pm - 9:30pm on Friday, February 27 at Skate-A-Long USA located at 744 Beaver Ruin Road, NW in Lilburn. Tickets are $10.
The fight against heart disease in women has come a long way in the years since the American Heart Association first began focusing attention on how heart disease is not, in fact, a βmanβs disease.β But the fight is far from over. That being said, UAO has made the βhealthy choiceβ to join in the fight against this silent killer. In fact, the over 272,000 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members worldwide temporarily put aside their beloved colors of salmon pink and apple green on National Wear Red Day, February 6 with a βPink Goes Redβ campaign in support of the AHAβs Go Red For Women movement.
Millions of Americans live with heart disease, stroke or a cardiovascular condition. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, killing more women than all forms of cancer combined.
