GWINNETT COUNTY, GA β€” A Gwinnett County Sheriff's deputy is being praised for her alert and live-saving actions in a recent car accident.

Lt. Ivy Bailey was on her way home a couple of weeks ago when she observed a car accident at a Hwy 316 intersection. She approached the overturned SUV and saw the driver suspended by her seatbelt, out of reach of the citizens who had stopped to assist.

Lt. Bailey didn’t hesitate to climb through the vehicle’s shattered rear window to check on the welfare of the driver. Unable to safely extricate her due to unknown injuries and a lot of shattered glass, Lt. Bailey remained with her to provide comfort and monitoring until medical assistance arrived.
