Gwinnett Juvenile Accused Of Harassing Female They Met On Roblox
Messages showed where the juvenile mentioned "killing other women and had a kill list," Gwinnett County Police said.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A juvenile in Gwinnett County is facing terroristic threats charges after being accused of threatening and harassing a female they met through gaming platform Roblox.
This comes on the heels of Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr's investigation into Roblox after receiving reports of alleged child abuse and sexual exploitation relating to the popular platform.
Gwinnett County Police on Friday said they began investigating the unnamed juvenile on Jan. 16 after the female reported the suspected harassment. Police did not release the age of the female or the juvenile.

When confronted by detectives, police said the juvenile acknowledged sending the messages and was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
The juvenile on Jan. 27 was arrested on charges of terroristic threats and acts and was taken to a regional youth detention center, police said.
"Gwinnett County Police remind the public to use caution when interacting with others through online gaming and social media platforms. Users are encouraged to protect their personal information, avoid sharing addresses or identifying details and immediately report threatening or concerning behavior to law enforcement. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to monitor online activity and have open conversations with children about online safety," police said in a news release.

Roblox has recently been under fire and has faced legal woes relating to child safety concerns. Los Angeles County, California is the latest community to sue the platform, citing "unfair and deceptive business practices that endanger and exploit children."
In Georgia, Carr said his department is opening a probe into Roblox after the Georgia State Patrol rescued two girls who disappeared from their Florida home earlier in the year. The girls met a 19-year-old through Roblox, according to Carr's office.
Additionally, prosecutors say an adult posed as a child and chatted with a 12-year-old boy through Roblox. The boy "was later coerced into sending explicit photos," prosecutors said.
Carr said his office sent Roblox a civil investigative demand, requesting information relating to reports of abuse, safety violations and safety issues from Georgia users and reports of criminal activity relating to the platform, among other data.
“Predators are using online platforms like Roblox to go after our children, and we’re fighting back,” Carr said in a news release. “As a father and attorney general, keeping kids safe will always be my top priority, and any company that exposes them to harm will be held accountable.”
