Gwinnett Sorority in "Line" To Impact Community In Support of Go Red for Women; Local Group's Pink to Go Red to Bring Awareness to Heart Disease

Go Red Day with UAO: Attendees being asked to donate a backpack in support of AKA's One Million Backpacks Initiative

The Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter (β€œUAO”) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is β€œlining up” in observance of The American Heart Association’s (β€œAHA”) Heart Awareness Month with β€œPink Goes Red: Line Dancing Workout Event”, from 6:30pm - 8:30 pm on Friday, February 6 at the Lucky Shoals Community Center located at 4651 Britt Road, Norcross, GA 30093.

The fight against heart disease in women has come a long way in the years since the American Heart Association first began focusing attention on how heart disease is not, in fact, a β€œman’s disease.” But the fight is far from over. UAO has made the β€œhealthy choice” to join in the fight against this silent killer. In fact, the over 272,000 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members worldwide will impact the community by temporarily put aside their beloved colors of salmon pink and apple green on National Wear Red Day, February 6 (and throughout the month of February) with a β€œPink Goes Red” campaign in support of the AHA’s Go Red For Women movement.

Millions of Americans live with heart disease, stroke or a cardiovascular condition. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, killing more women than all forms of cancer combined.
