Gwinnett Warehouse Fire Ruled Arson

Firefighters arrived to find several spot fires burning in the vacant warehouse.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Multiple small fires that were set in a vacant Gwinnett County warehouse have been ruled arson, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday to a report of smoke coming from the warehouse, in the 500 block of Maltbie Street in Lawrenceville.

A passerby had seen black smoke coming from the warehouse and called 911.

Crews found smoke coming from the rear of the large metal warehouse and deployed hose lines. Upon entering the building, they encountered heavy smoke and several spot fires burning.

They quickly extinguished the fires and conducted a search for victims. No one was found inside and no injuries were reported.

According to investigators, the fires were intentionally set. The building is vacant and no one was supposed to be inside it, according to the property owner.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the fire to come forward.
