ICYMI: No Charges In Christmas Day Pedestrian Crash, Police Say
The family of 24-year-old Taylor Hamm, of Lawrenceville, want the driver who hit her to be charged with a crime.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — No criminal charges are forthcoming in a Christmas Day accident in which a 24-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle in Lawrenceville, police said Wednesday.
Taylor Hamm, 24, was left on life support after the crash, which happened on Lawrenceville Suwanee Road between Lawrenceville Highway and Old Norcross Road at about 6:40 a.m.
"The Gwinnett County Police Department sympathizes with the Hamm family and the difficult time that they are experiencing due to this tragedy," department spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said in a news release.

Hamm's family has expressed anger that the driver of the vehicle, who drove away after the crash, has not been charged in the case.

"It's a life and a life that matters," Hamm's mother, Dana Poole, told WSB-TV. "If I were to leave the scene, I think I would have been arrested."

Police said they had been called Christmas morning about a person in a bathrobe stumbling alongside the road. Hamm matched the description of that person.
The driver later told police she saw something lunge at her car, but didn't realize she had hit a person.
Washington said that, at the conclusion of the police investigation, a full report will be sent to the Gwinnett County District Attorney's office for a final decision.
"This is a difficult time for all parties involved in this accident and we ask for prayers and support for the families that are involved," he said.
