Lawmakers Want MARTA In Gwinnett County
A resolution introduced last week in the state House urges commissioners to expand rail in the county and specifically mentions MARTA.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A group of Gwinnett County state lawmakers is urging the local government to expand MARTA transit lines into the county.
In a resolution introduced in the state House last week the four representatives, all Democrats, called on the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to "incorporate mass transit options" in the county.
"Extending the MARTA rail line into Gwinnett County to the Gwinnett Center Arena would not only help alleviate traffic congestion in the area but also spur economic growth," the resolution reads.

The four represent districts that include the Interstate 85 corridor, which would be a likely path for MARTA lines if they were to be extended into Gwinnett.

The resolution also says that many Gwinnett County citizens have "voiced their frustration with elected officials who do not advocate for their desire to join MARTA."
Resolutions like this one are not in any way legally binding, but rather serve as a means of influencing action.
The resolution comes as Gwinnett's Board of Commissioners is considering a comprehensive transit plan.
