Lawrenceville Father's Falling Death Ruled An Accident

Family members said Jeffrey Williams had been chasing his son when he tripped and fell through a stair bannister.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Foul play has been ruled out in the death of a Lawrenceville man who reportedly tripped while chasing his son and fell.

The death of Jeffrey Williams, 50, has been ruled an accident by medical examiners, Gwinnett County Police said Monday in a news release.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, police were dispatched to a medical call at 130 Galesburg Dr. in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

When they arrived, they found medical personnel treating Williams in the foyer of the home. There was a large amount of blood in the area where he lay, according to police.

Williams was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he died of his injuries.

According to a news release, Williams’ son told police that his father had chased him out of an upstairs bedroom when he tripped over a chair on the home’s upstairs landing. Williams fell through the stair bannister and into the foyer, the son told police.
