Lawrenceville Keeps Same Millage Rate; 'It's a Win-Win'
Lawrenceville is said to have one of the lowest municipal rates in Gwinnett County.

The Lawrenceville City Council has decided to keep its millage rate at 2.16 mills, according to a press release on Wednesday, July 17.

"Having a low millage provides existing residents and business owners with a low cost of living and doing business while serving to attract new residents and businesses due to a competitive rate," Mayor Judy Johnson said in the press release. "It’s a win-win.”

- "Property is taxed according to millage rates assessed by different government entities. One "mill" equals $1.00 of property taxes for every $1,000 of assessed valuation. The rates of several taxing authorities usually combine to make up the total tax bill. In Lawrenceville’s case, the millage rate is combined with Gwinnett County’s rate.
