More Than 60,000 Preschoolers Took a Trip Around the World in Just One Day

Students "Celebrated Cultures" as they paraded in cultural attire and feasted on international treats

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – September 26, 2014 – More than 130 Gwinnett County preschoolers dressed in silk gowns and saris and toting paper fans, ukuleles and wooden clogs, joined hands on Friday, September 26th to symbolize the unity of children worldwide.

They joined 60,000 children from more than 280 Primrose Schools in 20 states across the nation in the Celebrating Cultures event. The students sang “It’s a Small World” and other songs, sampled ethnic food from around the world and performed traditional songs and dances from the students’ various cultural backgrounds as they sought to embrace the things that
make each of them unique in their own special way.

Marking the end of a month-long program dedicated to celebrating cultures, the preschoolers and kindergarteners learned about diversity, their heritage and the importance of acceptance of others despite cultural differences.

“Children who develop an appreciation at an early age for cultural traditions and differences grow into caring, generous adults who love their community and respect others,” said Gil Benjamin, Franchise Owner of Primrose School of Five Forks. “Celebrating Cultures is just one of any unique programs at Primrose that are especially designed to help children develop active minds, healthy bodies and happy hearts.”

Celebrating Cultures is a fundamental part of the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum that highlights diversity and compassion for all people across the world. In partnership with The Music Class®, an award-winning, international music education company, the Rhythm and Notes® music curriculum complemented the Celebrating Cultures event by adding a rich library of music and companion classroom activities.
