Loving, caring, and inspiring. These are just a few words that describe a mother. A mother loves unconditionally. She self sacrifices, and places her children’s happiness before hers. She inspires her children and guides them. The very existence of each of us and any progress we have made testifies to the essential nature of motherhood. It is in motherhood, we see the personification of purity and virtue.
The appreciation and respect for motherhood is universal across all religions. Motherhood is not merely defined by the raising of children; but is a statement regarding the blissful nature of women. Specifically, in Islam mothers are accorded to a high honor. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Paradise lies under the feet of mothers.” What can be greater evidence of honoring women than this? Islam has effectively placed the ultimate reward for human beings in their devotion to their mothers. This Mother’s Day let us appreciate the significance and importance of Motherhood. Let us pray that the beautiful bond of motherhood is always surrounds us. Lastly, let us take this moment to thank all the beautiful mothers in this world. You truly make a difference!
