Muslim Leader Condemns London Terror Attack As a 'Violation of Islam'
The worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad called the Westminster attack a "barbaric atrocity"
On March 22, 2017, a terrorist attack occurred in England, on Westminster Bridge, in Parliament Square, and within the grounds of the Palace of Westminster, in central London. The perpetrator, Khalid Masood, drove a vehicle into a crowd of people near the palace gates and a police officer was stabbed. Masood was then shot by other officers. Five people—three pedestrians on the bridge, the stabbed police officer, and the assailant—were confirmed dead. Approximately 50 people were injured by the car that plowed into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge.
The worldwide head and Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad called the Westminster attack a “barbaric atrocity” and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the victims while he was speaking at the Peace Symposium held at the Baitul Futuh Mosque in London on Saturday, March 25. We, the members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, wish to make it clear that Islam has no place for violence and brutality. His Holiness condemned the attack and said that, “No matter what terrorists may claim, under no circumstances are indiscriminate acts, or killings ever justified”. As human beings, this is our responsibility to stand up against any form of cruelty, oppression, and hatred. We do not allow such cruelties nor support the beliefs which lead any extremist to commit this type of atrocity.
