Update: Man Barricaded In McDonald's Bathroom Identified
Update: An early morning SWAT standoff Tuesday ended with the surrender of a man who was barricaded in McDonald's.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – The man who barricaded himself in a McDonald's bathroom in Lawrenceville Tuesday has been identified.
Police say that Derrick Hall, 36, of Lawrenceville is well known to officers and has been arrested multiple times in Gwinnett County. Hall was evaluated by a local hospital and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.

An early morning SWAT standoff in Lawrenceville has ended with the surrender of a man who was barricaded in a McDonald's bathroom at 4915 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville.
The man, who's name is unknown at this time, was charged with terroristic threats and criminal trespass.

At around 4:30 a.m., police say they received a 911 call that a man was inside the restaurant with a knife and was possibly doing drugs. He was asked to leave the restaurant but fled into the men’s restroom instead. Employees of the restaurant evacuated to a nearby business.
Officers confronted him inside the restroom. Police say the man threatened officers, opening the restroom door and swinging a knife at them.

Members of the SWAT Team, negotiators and Gwinnett County Fire Department personnel were actively trying to communicate with the suspect, though he never responded coherently. While he was inside the restroom, the man caused significant damage. Police said he pulled the urinal off the wall, leading to a broken water pipe.
At around 8:15 a.m., the SWAT Team deployed tear gas inside the restaurant and the man was taken into custody without incident shortly afterward.
Police say his motivations for barricading himself inside the restroom and threatening officers are still unknown. No officers were injured during the standoff. The man was treated at a local hospital before being transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.
