One of the suspects in the death of Shane Varnadore is a 14-year-old boy.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Two suspects, one of them a 14-year-old boy, have been arrested for the shooting death of a pizza delivery driver Tuesday night in Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett County Police have charged Jermaine Young, 21, and Reginald Lofton, 14 -- both of Lawrenceville -- with felony murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery in the shooting death of 28-year-old Papa John's driver Shane Varnadore.

"This is a tragic situation for the family of the decedent and the family of the suspects involved," Gwinnett Police Cpl. Deon Washington said in a written statement.

Lofton, a juvenile, is being named publicly because he is being charged as an adult, police said.

Investigators had worked through the night and into the day Wednesday working on leads in the case.

Police say one of those leads prompted them to execute a search warrant Wednesday at 1400 Herrington Rd, in the same apartment complex where Varnedore had been delivering a pizza shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

With the assistance of a SWAT team, several "persons of interest" were detained, including Young and Lofton, police said in a news release.

After hours of interviews, police said Thursday morning that they believe the motive in Varnedore's death was robbery.

Young has been booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center and Lofton was transported to a metro youth detention facility.
